Online poker room Cake Poker has released a version of its mobile application.

To install Cake Poker Mobile, players must have a Windows Mobile 5.0 cell phone device, as well as Microsoft’s .NET Compact Framework, which can be downloaded for free.

Cake Poker, which is licenced and regulated by the Government of Curacao, Dutch Antilles, has reportedly shared that accessing and interfacing with Cake Poker Mobile is, in theory, the same as if users had logged onto the site via a regular PC.

The industry is already witnessing the entry of gaming platforms, which enable person-to-person mobile gaming for the first time. For instance, earlier this year, Probability had introduced its Zaphod platform, which utilises the Internet connection provided to mobile phones. A matching engine on the platform brings players together to compete at a price and skill level compatible with each player. The first game to be launched on the new platform is a head-to-head mobile Texas hold 'em poker.
